Current Position
Rodney W. Sowards is a Vice President in the Dallas office of Veritas Advisory Group, Inc. and a founding member of the firm. His litigation support practice focuses primarily on financial, accounting, and economic damage evaluations of complex commercial litigation disputes.
Professional Experience
Mr. Sowards has over twenty years experience in consulting with clients on a variety of managerial and dispute resolution matters. Over the course of his career, Mr. Sowards has performed and supervised hundreds of investigations of businesses in a variety of industries including: banking, construction, energy, manufacturing, and real estate, among others. He has served as the court appointed Claims Administrator and Distribution Agent for numerous securities fraud disputes and has worked for Receivers, Examiners, and other agents of the court.
The types of matters for which Mr. Sowards has been retained to provide expert services include: accounting malpractice, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, business interruption, construction, director and officer liability, intellectual property, securities and commodities fraud, and white collar fraud and embezzlement.
He has rendered expert testimony in State and Federal courts, as well as in arbitration proceedings. He is a frequent speaker on the topic of damages and investigative accounting techniques.
Prior to founding Veritas, Mr. Sowards held consulting positions with Navigant Consulting, Inc., The Barrington Consulting Group, and Peterson & Co.
Educational Background
Mr. Sowards is a Certified Public Accountant, licensed in the state of Texas, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He is a graduate from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in finance.
