Current Position

James E. West is a Principal in the Dallas office of Veritas Advisory Group, Inc. He has extensive experience consulting on construction delay and disruption matters, as well as breach of contract, contract termination, surety bond claims, and cost audits.

Professional Experience

Mr. West has over twelve years of experience in construction cost estimating and consulting, including inspecting and documenting damage and construction defects to commercial structures, analysis of project schedules, and analysis of financial records.

Mr. West has consulted with counsel and clients on matters such as fraud investigations, construction delays, cost overruns, contract disputes, and defective work. He has substantial experience in preparing, analyzing, and defending against construction claims for project delays, cost overruns, productivity impacts, and acceleration events. He has provided expert testimony on defective work, schedule, and cost matters.

Mr. West has consulted on a variety of projects including airports, industrial plants, pipelines, sports arenas, hospitals, churches, retail construction, commercial and residential buildings, light rail, and convention centers.

Prior to joining Veritas, Mr. West held positions with Navigant Consulting, Inc., The Barrington Consulting Group, and Travelers Insurance Company.

Educational Background

Mr. West earned his undergraduate degree in Strategic Management from the University of North Texas. He is a licensed Property and Casualty Adjuster by the Texas Department of Insurance and a certified Construction Risk Insurance Specialist.
